My daughter has severe pan colitis, she was in the hospital for a week in Feb.  Nothing has worked for her, and they started her on remicade,  she has had three infusions at 5 mls,  she went to the Dr today and he wants to up it to 10 mls for her next two infusions and then back it back down to 5mls.  The one thing that really worries me is they did a camera test while in the hospital and they found a linear leason in her small intestine which sounds like chrons disease to me but he did not call it that.  He told her if she had to resort to surgery she would probably have more complications than normal.  Is it possible to have both UC and Chrons?  this is all so distrubing, of all the things I thought I would go through in my life I never thought my daughter being so very sick would be one of them.  She was diagnosed 4 years ago and has not really been very good since she is always in some state of a flare.  Oh, what to do.  I always held out hope that if all else failed at least she could have the surgery and things would be better now I am not so sure.  I feel devestated.  Her UC was triggered by pregancy and then she got preggers again last summer had a miscarrage and has been very sick ever since.  I know I am rambeling on and on but it just all seems so unfair she is a beautiful kind and loving person who does not deserve this kind of pain.  Thanks to all who will read this, I really appreciate it.
PS:   I know that no one deserves this terrible disease I did not mean it that way.  Thanks again

Hi and welcome :) It's never easy for a parent to watch their child suffer regardless of how old they get. It's a tough disease to have thats for sure. Personally it sounds as if your daughter might have CD because Uc does not affect the small intestine at all. It is a disease of the large intestine and only penetrates to the mucousal layer. While Cd can affect the entire digestive tract. You should have your daughter call her doctor for clarification. There is a condition called Crohns colitis which is basically Crohns that is limited to the large intestine. I'm sorry that you are having to watch your daughter go thru this. But just by you coming here seeking advice and support shows how much you care as a mom.
