I had my last intravenous Remicade infusion today. My GI Dr came in to see me and was very pleased with my upbeat attitude. I really am looking forward to a change. It does sound like it will be difficult getting used to the ostomy-bag, and Dr said by the time I get used to it, I will be ready for the reversal surgery which will return waste removal to an internal thing again.

I asked if I could halt my pills (GI-tract pills and the chemo) and she said no. I must take them up to the day before surgery. After the colon is gone, I won't need to take them at all. I will be down to one Rx of a daily pain pill for managing my hip and Hubby will be the one eating pills for breakfast, not me! *cackles gleefully*

I was suffering from severe afternoon and evening nausea and she Rx'd me phenergen. Wow. That stuff puts me out like a light for 10hrs at a time! I warned Hubby this evening that I took one and if he needed me to run to the store for anything, I had to do it right then before it kicked in and he said no. THEN, an hour later he asks me to run to Wally-world for him and I had to remind him I took one of the Phens. I offered to go in the store if he would drive, but he didn't really want to drive so he'll do without until tomorrow.

I will see my GI Dr one last time, after the surgeries are over so she can 'close my case' I guess, and see how I have adjusted and if I am doing well. That will be in late Fall.
Nervous about the surgery, but actually getting excited, too.

UC is pretty darn crappy, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you'll cry.
I'd much rather laugh.
