Hi all, Here is my update on bad back pain and its connection with UC. Started Physical Therapy today and was told there is a connection, but not directly being medically connected. I had one of you guys to pin point exactly what it was and you were right. I have hurt so bad from bad flare ups, I have avoided using my stomach muscles to keep the pain down. This has led to weak stomach musles which helps to support the back. Due to an old back injury that never healed right it flares up when the Uc flares up from lack of exercise. I get scared to move so all musles are getting weak and inflamed. Then when I go to bed at nights everything tightens up from no movement, making me scared of my bed, lol. The reason my neck and shoulders has started hurting is I have been sleeping with a pillow between my legs to help back pain and sleeping on sides. Putting all body weight on sides and side of head tilting neck. So basically I am sore all over from Bum area to ear area. The therapist says they have seen this and they work with UC and Chrohns and they can get me back to normal, if I will be patient and not overwork my muscles on the few good days. Thankfully my therapist gets upper GI infections and is familiar with the pain, and another one has IB, I think this will help me. Today was great, GREAT, they exercised me lightly and put me in a room on hot moist heat for 1/2 an hour flat on my back for first time in months. Then came home and slept all afternoon on my back and heating pad. It was a great feeling to be able to get on my back and sleep. TY all.
