I have been using Lidocaine in a syrup and it is not fun to try to use on the anal area but my GI said that's the only thing available that is strong.  I remember hearing of at least one person on here who was using a prescribed Lidocaine cream.  What is the name of it please?  I have my appointment tomorrow afternoon.  Thank you!

I only know it as Lidocain...it's a numbing gel that can help relieve the area when in alot of discomfort.

I was using xylocaine gel (which is lidocaine hydrochloride) as enemas back in September. They worked great to help me get in remission. It came in a tube that I had to squeeze out into an enema bottle to use.

Come to think of it there are types of pharmacies that can make (?) up various creams. I wonder if a cream type base can be "compounded" along with the medicinal component. Just a thought.

I've used a prescription combo cream with Lidocaine HCL 3% with Hydrocortisone Acetate 0.5%.  It's in a small tube that has an applicator and you apply it inside rectally.  You can also just take the applicator off and apply it topically.  It's pretty good if your problem is lower down--it doesn't go up as far as cortifoam.

Winding down from flare that started in January
