darn it. I've been doing well for so long, but for the last few days within a few hours of eating my entire abdomen just starts hurting. It is excrutiating but it lasts and last and just wears me down and make me all weepy.

Any tips on what to do to stop this now? I'm not really experiencing any other symptoms, if anything my poo is totally normal lookin gand solid.

Boy, 'tis the season for flares it seems! You can call your GI and ask for an anti-spasmodic to see if it will help with your pain. But either way, maybe a call to the doc wouldn't hurt eh?

Not a MD, but are you using enemas daily?  It seems you could also up you Asacol. Call GI for suggestions to get under control now.  Good luck.

If the poo is OK, the discomfort could just be something you ate and this is a temporary thing?

Val - so sorry to hear this! Like Red said - must be the season :( I'd definitely call the doc and let him know what's going on. Maybe a quick bump in meds will fix the blip - fingers crossed for you!

OK I think this was all a false alarm---I started my period. I hope that is what is. But my god I was almost incapacitated from the pain. My entire abdomen hurts. So much so that just touching my belly hurts. I hate this disease. The panic, the worry, the pain, everything.

I wonder though if this is a sign that I should increase my medications....Or maybe just the probiotic. Any ideas?

How old are you Val? I know all too well about mentstrual pain......oh boy do I! :) Mine got worse and worse when I got older. One night I woke up with such intense burning cramping pain that I thought I was going to have to wake the hubby to take me to the ER. Popped a Darvocet and sat upright on the couch instead and it did the trick. Not sure about upping any of your meds or probiotics though.

I am only 35 and mine has gotten worse and worse over the years as well.  I just read another post where her ovary was embedded in her bowel.......I am freaking out, because I have horrible left sided pain right where my ovary is and back pain.  Now I think I am a hypercondriak (sp?).  I hate this disease too, I always freak out when something different happens.  With my menstral cycle being so whacked out, I can never tell if that is what it is or not.  My Gi won't deal with my gyn and my gyn won't deal with my GI.  uuugh!!  Anyway, I hope that is what it is, and I hope you feel better soon.

I was just reading that IBD is associated w/ our menstrual cycle ... I didn't read that closely as I have an IUD and do not have periods (yeah!) but I totally believe it. I know many women who have bowel issues/diarrhea when PMS'ing (who don't even have IBS/IBD) so imagine how much worse it is for us! I wonder if it would even be worth discussing w/ your doc increasing your meds around your cycle?

I notice a change when I get my period, every single month. Sometimes it's just a little loose, sometimes it's D. But there is always a difference at that time of the month. And then after 2 days or so, it's back to normal.

Mine always acts up a bit during that time of the month.

But if you think you are getting sick, please call the doctor as soon as possible.

Don't let it get so bad you end up in the hospital.

The last time I was in the hospital, I blame the doctor. I had called, but it was going to be over a month before they could see me. My doc left the practice and so did one of the nurse practioners. They were very short handed. I got to where I was calling almost daily to see if there was a cancellation.

I got so bad, I had to be carried out. I have a new group of doctors now. There are about 15 of them, in 5 locations, so I shouldn't have any more trouble getting in.

The sooner you can treat it, the better.
