Well I think it's been two weeks now and I have to tell you this really, truly works! The diet is the key and the vitamin E enema works just as much as is just as important as the diet. Think about it, you're treating both ends. I know I got fell off the diet for a day and 1/2 and boy did I pay! But I started right back and it took a two days to start seeing great results again. I think once you get use to eating all the veggies, chix and fish you feel so good and that you don't want to put any grease or bread carbs in your body to make you feel sluggish. That's my feeling anyways. This truly is the truth, after one night on the Vitamin E enema my blood stopped.

I went to the hemi doctor, by the way a fissure is what I have. He couldn't help me (I have to go to a specialist) but when I told him I was doing the Vitamin E enema and that it's working for the UC he said "I'm not surprised" that Vitamin E is a bigger healer and that he recommends it to people when they can't tolerate oinments.

I really feel great, 1 bm in the am. No more gut spasms, no more blood. I have to watch sugar and wheat flour (breads, muffins) in take for sure, but mainly my diet is veggies, chix and fish. I really like it.

I hope this helps someone else. I was so scared to do this, why? I have no idea and I read about it a year ago! Then it hit me, what the heck is in the medication prescibed by the doctor that I insert rectally? All the meds gave me dizzyness and MORE bloody diarreah.

Thanks Sheldon this really has helped and If I encounter anyone who has my condition I will share the information you were so kind to share with all of us.

Thank You.

Hi Me,too

I know hat I can't live without is broccoli, for some reason I always see better stoll with this and the other veggies. I live for my enema at night, it's awesome to watch in the morning to get up and go to the bathroom, no blood or pain.

I make sure two of my meals a day are HIGH in veggies, lots of broccoli, asparagus, parsnips, yellow squash, califlower and beets. They are great for you too, so really you're just helping yourself inside and out.

Thanks for all that have wished me well, I believe I'm going to continue to heal.

This vit.E enema seems to get good reviews.  Sheldon 'discovered' it 25 years ago and he and others swear by it.   I think I'm going to give it a shot, but the only draw-back for me is all the messing around prepping the mixture.   I mean sticking pins in capsules and squeezing out the fluid, ear-cleaning pumps, what's that all about?  Please believe me I DON"T want to be a wet blanket over this but after 25 years why has there been no clinical/commercial interest in this method of treatment, whereby some sort of simple kit could have been made availlable.

Maybe Sheldon can throw a bit of light on this, I'm sure there's a valid reason.

Of course It could be because I've not had the time to read up on it properly!

If that is the case, please forgive my scepticism Sheldon.

Well for me I just bite the end and squeeeze out the E, it's no biggie. I get the 1000IU capsuls, so you don't have to open as many.

I tell you what you have to do the diet too, no messing around with that. No wheat, sugar or diary for me. It totally works. If I mess up I bleed and it takes me 2 days to get back to formed stools with no blood.

Sheldon will repond I'm sure, I just wanted to let you know it's working and it's not inconvenient to me, it's well worth the 3 min prep at night.

I just made my first batch of pearl barley this evening. Quiet tasty I must say. The diet actually seems wonderful. I need to figure out how to make this Kefir more tasty though.

Got a quick question.

What does exactly no wheat mean, I know the obvious, but does that include all pastas, grains, etc.

Thanks.

I will repeat, "After 25 years, why has there been no clinical or commercial interest in this method of treatment?"

Simple question really, but I'm not in the least expecting a simple answer.

therearemiracles,

I am truly happy for you, but I have a question...do you add probiotics to the mix? because you may end up washing away the bad bacteria along with the good. Adding probiotics to the vitamin E mix might be a better solution.

Blessings,

I imagine there is no money in that.  In the end that's what drives everything, not necessarily what is best for us.   Working in my profession I see it everyday with patients coming into the office.  I still have people coming in taking vytorin, and I am the first doc to tell them it doesn't even work??  I am their chiropractor, so someone else is failing.  Rants, lol....

Hey, do you think you can just put the vitamin E in a Rowasa enema. Like putting the vitamin E in, having the mesalamine from the Rowasa and the vitamin E. Do you think that would work???? Any thoughts?

Lemonhead, I use my hydrocortenema bottles for mine. The lids screw off those so I just pour the vitamin E into them with the water and can skip the whole sucking it out of a cup step. I imagine yours would be the same. Easy to use.

Er.... I wouldn't use it with the mesalamine, but you could use a clean mesalamine washed out bottle.

Has anyone received any feedback from doctors after doing this? I'll ask mine what she thinks of it next time I see her.

D_A raised a good question. Let's say you're a doctor and you have a patient like Sheldon who goes from sick to perfect colonoscopy without your help. You'd want to know why. Then you'd think about marketing this stuff to your patients, right?
When I google this, I basically just get Sheldon's story. I'm glad that other people here are trying it to add to the data.

By the way, though, this makes me also think of aloe enemas which some people make and try. I'm not sure why this stuff isn't available for purchase. There's so much colon cleansing garbage on the market, why not this? You'd think that this stuff would have appeal to people with hemi's too, which is a larger market than just us. I'm just fascinated by anything that works for some people and then never gets "discovered" because it's not made of mesalamine or steroids! :)

UC for the last ten years
Current Meds: 6MP since 2006, Cortifoam
Past Meds: You name it; I've tried it. (Asacol, Colazol, Pentasa, DiPentum, Rowasa, Canasa, Cortenema, sulfasalazine)
5ASA drugs don't work for me. Canasa seems to make me worse.

Well, being the experimental person I am, I did mix the vitamin E with my mesalamine enema last night....I don't think I will do that again. After being blood free for a couple of months. I am seeing a little bit of blood this AM. I am hoping it is due to hormonal fluctuations, but only time will tell. Question for Sheldon....
1.5 tablespoons is not enough to reach up through my entire affected area. How is this suppose to heal my UC when I can't even get the vitamin E to all of the areas that need it?

Right after a bowel movement or before bedtime is the best time to use the enema for that day. Lay on your side with knees drawn up for easy insertion remain on that side for 5 minutes than lay on your back and the opposite side for 5 minutes each.

This is taken from his post on curezone, go over there and read up, it should answer most if not all of your questions.

I have just been using it a few days. I used it before but was not aware of the diet at the time. I am currently coming out of a flare and really want to springboard my next remission, so I am gonna try the diet along with it for the next several weeks too. I'll have a better opinion after that. With this disease you just have to try things, because different things work for different people. I also just finished up a good parasite cleanse before starting this.

I have had two good days so far. 3 or so bm's in the morning which usually occur within the first two hours that I get up. I use two 60 ml bottles of warm distilled water in the evening to flush the lower colon out good before using the vitamin E (Not Part Of the Procedure). It also assures me that I don't waste the vitamin E by having to expel it right back out. Stays in MUCH easier after that, plus I believe it will get more contact with the intestine walls making it more efficient. I didn't see any blood this morning till the last bm, so progress which I was having already. Since I have the next several days off I will just use the E in the evenings with nothing else and see what the mornings bring. I have used the hydrocort enemas in morning and at lunch typically 20 ml or so at a time, then the E at night.

The diet is fairly easy you just have to make your spouse get on board and understand what you are doing so they can support you. It's not hard to make chicken and fish. Prep on the pearl barley and rice is easy and you can use it for a few days. The rest is just steaming the veggies. If I can keep the dang colon from getting irritated with the bm's, which is what this diet is suppose to do, I should get back in remission pretty smoothly. If it works well, I will share it with my patients and friends.

For those interested in the enemas, I recently purchased a product for $17.99, which I use to add good bacteria to my entire colon (I purchased the 1 1/2 qt. enema bag ). I started taking this enema on Tuesday night and I've been instructed to do it three times a week; hopefully, it will make a difference.

ps.
You have to purchase the probiotics separately.
