yes, I do, I have had some since Dec and they seem to go away but then come back. I just had a colonoscopy 4/4 and a f/up visit w/my GI on 4/14. He saw them and said that they are not that bad and they prefer not to do surgery on UC patients. I told him that I could not seem to get them to go away and he prescribed me some steriod suppositories, I pick them up tonite. I'll post on how that goes. I am just so tired of them and did everything you are supposed to, warm sitz baths, creme, supps, wipes.

I also have them. I first got them when I was expecting my first child 31 years ago. They dont really go away, but you can go years without them bothering or hurting. I find when Iam straining to have a BM or D then they will hurt
Preperation H or something simular usually helped me except for this last time I got a foam from my DR..

If you opt for hemmie surgery, make sure they band it/them rather than cutting it/them off because it seems there can be alot of negative issues when getting them cut off, harder/longer to heal and in the case they might be perianal disease rather than hemmies.

Hi..If you're not on any rectal meds, maybe you should consider them for your UC.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.....where in the colon is your UC (limited or throughout) and what meds are you on?

I have external hemorrhoids and do notice that if I don't deal with them, they can cause me grief in the way that they connect somehow to inflammation leading to a flare. Could be that they, themselves, are a result of pushing (which I do sometimes depending on what I eat)....or the symptoms of an early flare...but not always. I don't seem to get them while I'm flaring...only before. Strange, but it could have something to do with using rectal meds and that helps the hemorrhoids as well.

I support using suppositories (big-time) to help with inflammation and external creams to help keep the external anal inflammation down....

:) .... I also ditto pb4's suggestion to not have them cut out but rather to go the route of banding. I don't have the experience, but anything to cut in and around the anus/rectum, considering UC starts at the rectum, could be more long-term grief rather than relief.

just to update.  I used the steroid enemas for two weeks, at first I thought that they were a great help, then midway through they started acting up again but at the end of the two weeks were much better.  I am using the prep h suppositories (I was using CVS brand before) 2xday and (knock on wood) I do not notice them.

question?  do they ever go away?  I had one 5 years ago and I thought it had went away..........

I never had them until I got into remission. Probably because I didn't have to push poo out when I was flaring tongue Sometimes they're really bad and sometimes not. My GI gave me hydro-cortisone suppositories but they didn't really help but prep H helps with the itch. I kind of gave up but if they end up getting really bad again I'll probably just have them taken off.
Good luck. Hemmies are the WORST!

Thank G-d, it has never bothered me. I noticed it when first flaring and GI saw it at an early Colonoscopy and said it looked harmless and the worst side effect it could have was just that it isn't "Aesthetically pleasing." gee.
The thing is, I've read that they can get prolapsed if there's a vein in it and thrombosed or cause a blood clot. So i'm thinking to do the banding thing to remove it to avoid any possible risks in the future.
