Have any of you experienced this. I just found out that I have UC, at least they think it's UC and not CD. I am currently taking Colozal and Entocort but now the Entocort is causing yeast infections. How do you deal with this. I need to be on Entocort for months, am I going to have a on going yeast infection the whole time. What to do.

Take probiotics daily and indefinitely, whether you're flaring or not keep taking them. The one I take aids with vaginal health meaning, no more yeast infections regardless if you're on antibiotics or whatever causes them for you...it's called Primadophilus Reuteri made by natures way, it's affordable and only one/day is needed and it will also aid with lactose intolerance and high cholesterol whether you have those issues or not it's fine to take...I only pay 29.00 (canada) for 90 caps which lasts me 90 days cuz only one/day is needed.

Make sure if you're ever on antibiotics for anything, you take your probiotics at least 2 hours after you're done taking the antis for the day or the antis will just kill off the probiotics.

To heal your yeast infection, you can use plain yogurt (my GP told me about this yrs ago) it works like a charm, use a baster to administer the yogurt daily (preferably at bedtime and wear a pad) after a few days it will clear right up...I always did it an extra day or two after just to be sure...thankfully since taking probiotics daily I havn't had a yeast infection or mouth ulcers (from having IBD) probiotics also aid with IBD symptoms so you're killing alot of birds with one stone.

It also helps to wear cotton underwear because nylon tends to raise the body temperature, which promotes growth of yeast. Also beware of tight-fitting jeans or other clothing that prevents evaporation of moisture down there. Interesting that you mention twins, BTW, because Rot Gut (another member here) also has them in her signature. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)

Along with not using soap in "that area" or douching or using scented anything, like tampons and such...or having too long a bath especially with bubbles.

I had this problem for months while traveling and I thought I was going to lose my mind over it. Be sure that your problem is actually yeast and not a bacterial infection. They are treated differently. I'd see your Gyn if you haven't yet. Maybe the over the counter meds aren't the right thing for you since they treat yeast infections, not bacterial infections.

By the way, after I was better, I panicked when I thought the whole infection was starting again. So I finally took some advice I read online and put some apple cider vinegar in a bath. It restored the Ph level and helped keep the infection away. It took about 3 days of doing that for me to notice that the uncomfortableness was completely gone.
-------
UC for the last ten years
Current Meds: 6MP since 2006, Cortifoam
Past Meds: You name it; I've tried it. (Asacol, Colazol, Pentasa, DiPentum, Rowasa, Canasa, Cortenema, sulfasalazine)
5ASA drugs don't work for me. Canasa seems to make me worse.
