I have been dealing w/ major acid reflux/GERD issues the last couple of weeks. I am working w/ my GI but in the meantime can I pop some Tums? Well I guess I should clarify...I have been (as needed). Are they okay for us?

Tums are fine. Zantac is available OTC and works better for me.

I take 2 tums daily for the calcium. Calcium pills are huge, and I swallow enough pills, thank you. I find zantac 75, which  the GI recommended, does the trick for the gerd.Which, I think I get from taking so many pills! It was worse with asacol, not so bad now with colazal.

 Luck and laughs,

Merry

Just watch when you take them relative to your other meds. Since it adjusts the ph balance in your stomach, tums can affect the effectiveness of some medications (says so on the bottle). The tums bottles that I have say to not take them within 2hrs of other medications.

Merry! I have forgotten all about the calcium in Tums...lol I have been thinking of a way to get more calcium in my diet because I can't tolerate the calcium supplements (bothers my gut) but I can do the Tums therapy. Thanks for the reminder :)

I posted this somewhere else, but for the try this. Works great. 8-10 oz water heated up, add 1 tbsp Organic Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar (can get it at krogers in their organic section), and 1 tbsp honey. Drink it before you eat if you know the food will give you indigestion, or if it hits you all of a sudden just drink some down. ACV is great for you anywayd. I used to use yogurt before I figured this trick out. Worth a try.
