Ok this is embarrassing.  But I have noticed the past few months my bms smell worse than ever.  It is like curdled milk with rotted eggs.  Sorry, I know TMI. Could there be any medical reason this is happening?  I haven't changed my diet much.

I believe it's just the disease and an imbalance in bacteria.

I've noticed since I've taken probiotics my bm's aren't so smelly.
Diagnosed 2/29/08 with Mild Universal UC
I've had UC since 2000 but was in remission for most of those 8 years med free
Lialda Colazal & Asacol made symptoms worse
Not taking any more meds for now. Trying a holistic approach.

When in a flair that's the case for me...

I'd also imagine some of the drugs we take can add to the odor

When flaring, mine smelled really foul, too. Sometimes they still smell odd, even though I'm just about back to normal.

The only time I have that issue is during my periods...even while still taking probiotics.

If you're concerned then you could take chlorophyll, it aids with foul smelling BM's and's even suppose to be a benefit for IBD symptoms, I used a whole bottle (good sized) but only noticed that during my periods I didn't have a strong odor, but because it didn't offer me any IBD symptom benefits I stopped using it.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

funny you asked that question because I was going to ask the same thing. I think it's a uc thing that we all go through, especially when we're flaring. Probiotics, diet and antifungals have helped to reduce my odor greatly...but before then, it was horrible nono
