My husband and I are in the same boat right now, thinking about
a baby later in the year hopefully. Biggest thing my GI has told me is to be as healthy as possible going into conception, he offered that maybe getting a sigmoid scope done a month before I would like to try and conceive might not be a bad idea to make sure all is quiet. I'm not sure what maintenance meds you take but mine is mainly asacol which is safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding says the GI. Fallbacks for in case I flare during a pregnancy would be prednisone or rectal meds. I have asked this similar question to the board before and also noted that there are women that have/are taking azathioprine successfully though pregnancies which is good to know.
Dx: UC in 1997 at 14 with pan colitis, but it hasn't been that far up since.
Meds: Asacol (400mg x12 daily)
6mp (50mg from Aug06 to Dec07)
Prednisone (35mg currently for flare)
Just started Culturelle probiotic
