I had my second 2 injections placed in my thighs by my MIL on Friday, April 18th.  This time, I did things "right".  I took Claritin before the injections, iced the areas beforehand, left the shots out 2 hours, made sure the alcohol was dry before MIL injected me... They still hurt, but the site I had the ice on the longest was less painful.

Results: The welts were larger this time even though I took Claritin, but went away quicker than the 1st time.  Bms are only every 3 days or so, decent consistency.  I will start fiber to try to get "normal".  I have had a really bad day here and there, Weds night was bad, Thursday was worse, probably 20 bms and bleeding again.  So instead of 20 bms/ bloody viloent D every day, I have too many soft bms every 3 or 4 days, although after my 1st 4 shots, I was more regular for a few days... still, it's better than I was.

I have gotten a couple bad migraines since the Humira which I am guessing are from the Humira but only 3 or so.  Also I have more leg pains lately, which I am not sure are caused by the Humira. (It's raining here the 1st time on months, maybe it's that!?)  I had knee pain before Humira which has gone away and also scalp sores have gone away.  I have also had a few bursts of energy, trouble sleeping, and some shakiness which I am wondering could be from my new rectal meds or Humira.

This is a link to a pic of my welts if you want to see them....

Sorry about the welts -- those are big.

I had smaller welts for the first few times (more the size of the bottom of a drinking glass), but I no longer get them. Interestingly, I do bruise now, which I didn't initially. Approx 2 days after the injection, I get a dark red bruise at the injection site. It doesn't hurt and isn't tender, but it takes 1-2 weeks to go away.
Dx Mild Proctitis 7/06 at age 33, Dx Severe Pan Colitis 5/07, Dx Crohn's Colitis 10/07
Failed Asacol, Lialda, 6-MP, Canasa, Rowasa, Entocort, and Remicade
On Humira since 1/08 with promising results, but can't get below 5mg Prednisone
Take Tylenol #3 as needed when not in close proximity to a bathroom.
Currently on 40mg Prednisone again since mid-March flare, ack
4/9/08 Humira dose increased to 40mg/week, Start slow Pred taper

Thanks for the reply, Pibbin. I hope that with time my welts will stop like yours or at least get smaller. I also get a mark after. I still have marks from my 1st injections 5 weeks ago. I need this to agree with me! Sometimes I get so frustrated with my body!

Those welts look like allergic reactions. Hope you're feeling better by now. I'd advise to be cautious about adding fiber if your rectal ulcer is still a problem. Take care-- wish you all the best because you deserve it. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
