I have had colitis for about 5 years with mild flares that i have treated with Pred. usually starting at about 50mgs a day and tapering down 10mgs each weeks. My flares have all pretty much been diarrhea with blood and alot of bloating. I am taking lialda everyday 3 pills. However this latest flare I have had diarhea everyday each time with abdominal pain then run to the bathroom...diarrhea and then no more pain. THEre is no blood in my stool and i saw my GI doctor three days ago. He ran blood test...negative, 3 stool test...all negative. I just finished up a cycle of pred starting at 60mgs too and it did nothing...in the past it worked great. So I am stuck as every morning and night I have these pains. OTherwise during the day i am fine feel great go to gym. I am losing confidence in my doctor and dont think things will change with just taking Lialda and a probiotic. Any suggestions or similar flares???

Hi..welcome to the forum!

You could consider to ask your doctor for rectal meds....either a 5ASA or steroid retention enemas.

How long have you been on the Lialda?  Did you switch from Asacol?

You should try a probiotic and a fibre supplement to help bulk up the stool a bit.

When was your last c-scope?

Yes I plan on starting it again tonight actually. Do you think extra fiber in my diet may help...fiber pills?

Hi..good to hear you'll start the Rowasa.....remember to taper them and find a maintenance dosage to STAY at.

Fibre pills will help to bulk up the stool.....don't start with a high dosage. Some may be better than others...trial and error regarding comfort level.

Is your UC throughout or limited?
