Has anyone had any luck with antispasmodics like Buscopan. I think I have bad IBS with my colitis - don't know if its due to bacteria overgrowth or not.

Probiotics don't seem to help my symptoms although, after reading other posts I have ordered a box of Digestive Advantage - I'll let you know if it works for me...

lomotil isn't an antispasmodic as much as it's a colonic immobiliser.

I use dicyclomine (Bentylol in Canada..Bentyl in the US)..it comes in 10mg and 20mg dosages.

I've used it for over 19 years...a miracle in a bottle for me.

Does the Bentyl dry you out like a hot vegas day? It would be a nice switch to find something that would do the same thing without that side affect.

D_A...I do have dry mouth, the dicyclomine could be a factor..as could sudafed when I need it, or from coffee or even from my toothpaste..some bother me more than others. I have dry eyes as well...but my sister has Sjogren's and I might be in that category eventually. Hasn't affected urination, however..I do drink enough water.

Worth a try for you I would think...when I used lomotil (and I don't remember what dosage that doc put me on), I was basically stoned mellow. Slowed everything down...but I was also very weak since I had lost so much weight from having diarrhea for 3 weeks straight. Stupid doctor didn't do stool samples (which might have shown if I had a gastro bug).

Let me know if you try it.
