Leftover Asacol - anyone can recommend a place to donate it?

My son stopped taking these pills and he has so many left over - it is a shame to throw away.
I know that there is an organization that will take drugs - manufacturer new and sealed.

He was taking Asacol from the beginning of his last uc attack, did not do anything for him.
He started on probiotic now he takes morning and evening, also, fiber pills with meals.

You can try calling the GI's office to see if they have any recommendations.

I just googled and found something called "the star fish project". I emailed the a question to see if Asacol would be qualified to be donated.
I will keep you posted.

Last time he went to the dr, about a month or so ago, the treatment that the dr suggested was to suppress the immune system, well,
that scared me ! after reading in many places about probiotic, he started with that he still took asacol and enema which I dont remember the name.
He stopped with the enema because it did not do anything, and then ( about a week or so) stopped with the asacol.
He started about a week ago with yunnan paiyao, Chinese herb to stop bleeding. The bleeding is not progressing, we need to give it some more time.
I will post if any changes will occur.

Yafit, I'm surprised that his GI still sees him considering he stopped all  of the medicines.  I tried that back in 95 when I was first diagnosed I went into remission quick so I thought I'd stop everything well my GI almost hit the roof boy he was pretty upset with me.  Today I have a different GI and a pretty good one but I don't ever stop my meds because I know what will happen within weeks and usually the flares get worse.  Probiotics are great but they should be taken along with your meds.

after i had surgery i tried to find something to do with all my left over meds and i couldnt' find anywhere to send them. I hope you have better luck, it is a shame to waste them, when so many people can't afford their meds.

I think if the seal on the bottle is broken, the only thing they can do is dispose of them. After the Tylenol poisonings back in history, they tightened up on things like that.
