The past month is has gotten really painful sometimes to get up after I have been sitting or when I wake up in the morning.  I walk like my Grandma........then after I am up for a bit I am better.  But my joints hurt and the bottoms of my feet hurt.

Is this typical of the pred?  I see my Doc on Wed so I will go over it then but in the meantime, any thoughts, experiences or theories are welcome.

I HATE PRED! mad

YES! Prednisone gave me all kinds of joint issues. I always notice that my fingers start hurting first. Then my arms and legs and so on . . . Even my skin hurts sometimes. I can just touch it and it feels like its bruised. The steroid also altered my taste. If I ate anything sweet, it just didn't taste right. I've on Pred twice and each time the side effects were weird.
Diagnosed in 2007, but had bowel issues for years

Sulfasalazine - 4 pills 2x a day

Hospitalized for 9 days in Feb 2008 (IV steroid)

Was using VSL #3, but it made me throw up (I'm pregnant and nauseous)

Hydrocortisone and Rowasa enemas when needed (which is usually ALWAYS!)

Totally the pred. My knees were so bad the last time I was on it I literally had to have my husband lift me out of the bed. If I sat too long it got bad in my hips as well. Hang in there!

thank you! Sorry you both had to go through that.

Tab - did that take a while to go away?

Beth....As I tapered it got better and better. 60mg was my highest dosage (that was April '06). Once I was off pred. it almost immediately went away. Hope that helps!!! PS I have underlying knee problems unrelated to pred that may have contributed to it.
