The measurements would be starting at the rectum/anus junction (that's where UC starts). Yours extends to 30cm...about
12 inches. In that inflammation you have a pseudopolyp (again measuring from the start of the rectum) at 20cm, or 8 inches up. Your inflammation extends 10cm from that point, another 4 inches.
You should also be on rectal meds to help deal with the rest of the rectal inflammation.
The asacol will help keep inflammation in and above the sigmoid calm.
It's good you didn't stop the Asacol (what the heck is your doctor thinking??).....please start rectal meds, however...moderate inflammation should be dealt with.
I hope the doc took a biopsy of the pseudopolyp.
When do you go for your results?
*Heather*Status: mini flare Dec 28... tapered to every 4th night
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~5ASA: Asacol (6 daily) + Salofalk enemas (increase for flares tapered to maintenance)
~Bentylol (dicyclomine) 20mg as needed
~Probiotic 3(Natural Factors Protec) bedtime + 1 (Primadophilus Reuteri) occasionally
~multi-digestive enzymes as needed ....zymactive 3 - 5x daily
~Ranitidine,Pariet (reflux) Effexor XR 75mg; Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma)

My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
