I have had pretty formed stools ever since on pred. This morning I went to work and had to immediately go D and then did it again... On my way home from break I had horrible stomach cramps like I was going to go again so I stopped at a gas station... needed gas anyways, but first ran into the place. Went to the bathroom with pain and D and started getting so nauseas that I started dry heaving right there on the toilet in a gas station.

Went and put gas in my jeep... barely made it home without going in my pants. Still going potty and nauseas.. I called my boss. She made me feel guilty for being sick and said to take Immodium and she'd see me in a little bit. I was like... uh no.

So then called back right before my break was over to my other boss saying that I just couldn't come in. She goes.. ugh.. great.. all b**chy.

I ate Mexican food last night with my husband... he said when I got home that he had D this morning too. I don't know if I'm flaring... or if it's the food. But man I don't feel good.

Hi Kara,

Sorry to hear that you are feeling crummy. The fact that your husband also had D after eating the same food you did yesterday, has me thinking it could very well be what you ate. How long have you been on steroid therapy? Hopefully you can get through the day and then tomorrow see what your bowels do, and that will give you a better idea of what's going on (i.e. potential flare vs. bad food).

Hi...could have been the food or you've picked up a gastro bug (maybe you could be so generous as to share it with your boss..oops, nasty of my..lol!)
Taking imodium is not the right thing to do.

Is your signature correct in the fact that you're just on Colazal an predfoam? are you using both faithfully? Have you skipped any meds?

Hope this passes quickly.

I am off of prednisone.. have been for about a month or so.. I have been having formed stools with mucous and urgency since off of pred. I am currently on Lialda 2 a day and I WAS on proctofoam.. don't have another precription for it and I can't go to the GI with no insurance. Hopefully my hubby will get the job he's interviewing for tomorrow... cuz they have a good health insurance plan... *crosses fingers*

I had a similar episode a few weeks ago. I can't remember if it was pre- or post-hospital... But I ended up having the icky symptoms you're describing too. I about cried while describing it to my hubby... I was scared - must have been post-hospital... But then he mentioned he had a few dashes that evening as well. The I about cried again - out of happiness - saying "you've GOT to tell me when that happens so I don't freak out"!!!

How rude of your bosses! Grrrr!

Have you checked what a refill on the proctofoam would cost without insurance? It might be well worth it... Might also be worth calling the GI if you're not feeling better tomorrow. Tell him the situation and see if he has any samples for you.

I hope it's just a blip!!!

thanks dakota... i might call tomorrow if it doesnt go away... cuz honestly D scared me cuz I've had formed stools for a while now.. I honestly think it MIGHT have been the food. I do know my symptoms have been getting progressively worse though.. I'll have to ask my GI if he can refill it or how much it is... we'll figure it out. Tonight I'm gonna take a suppository... i have a whole box of them i never took.. i know they're for hemmroids but maybe itll help

Gosh I wish I could say better... my stools are back to formed... so I'm sure it was the food.

My work is SO stressful and I'm so angry about it right now that IT is affecting my stomach because I just want to yell at people now. They're trying to cut my hours... they have another thing coming to them. Blah.

That's one thing that sucks about this disease. Sometimes you have no idea if its a bug or the UC. If it's a bug you definately don't want to suppress those symptoms, but you want to suppress the UC. confused confused
