I switched from Asacol to Lialda back in November with great results. I was in remission and switched just for the convenience of taking less pills every day. When I was on Asacol, I was taking 4 pills, 3 times a day and using Rowasa 1x a week. When I switched, I took 2 Lialda in the morning and Rowasa every few weeks- even though I didn't feel I "needed" it. I was thrilled!! However, lately, I've been under a great deal of stress and it caught up with me. My colitis had stared to flare and increasing my Rowasa wasn't enough to help, even though I thought I caught it early. My GI recommended taking 2 additional Lialda at night and I noticed an improvement pretty quickly. I've also been using Rowasa 2-3 times a week. It's been a couple of weeks and I feel like I'm almost back at remission. I'm relieved b/c last Spring, I had a really bad flare which I could only get under control by being on prednisone for a few months which was a TERRIBLE experience
I hope sharing this helps someone else!
