Multiple meals per day

I was reminded once again of this in another post.  I've heard for some time that having several smaller meals a day can help (digestion, energy, etc.).  Now I am one that really does not care to make a fuss about meals and simplicity often prevails if I make something.  So I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on healthy things to eat that are small enough to eat a few times a day.  At work it would be ideal to not have to go heat something up every time and it not being the same old thing every time (like soup in several bowls). I am so used to eat three decent size meals and then wanting to eat questionable snacks in between.

So all I could think of is yogurt and bringing half a sandwich... and maybe just getting lunch early and eating half, then waiting a couple hours to eat the other half (wow, that's hard).  I welcome your insights.

Eating a small amount at a time is so much easier and healthier for your digestive tract not to mention keeping glucose levels in check too and energy levels, it's just all around better...eating 3 small meals and snacks 2-3/day is a better way to go for anyone, bowel issues or not...of course eating as healthy as possible (no junk-foods, processed, fast-foods) is even better.

A snack is like eating just a banana or apple (that would be a snack serving size) a small meal is easy enough to find proper guidelines if you google it.

If you can tolerate them, raw fruits and veggies make a good lunch. Cheese cubes. Keep some pudding or cottage cheese in your fridge for snacks. A piece of bread or crackers with peanut butter. Keep your "bites" prepared and in the cupboard or refrigerator so they're quick and easy to grab and eat.

I have had alot of luck with fruit cups and oatmeal "to go" bars. Both are nutritious and inexpensive.

Thanks. I avoid raw veggies and too much roughage for the most part (some is okay). I wasn't sure if it is better to have snacks are small meals, ya know? If I have crackers or chips (a healthier version) I eat almost all of them and get nearly full--lack of self control :) I like those Larabars, but they can get expensive, especially with a good appetite.  Oh, I don't know if anyone else has had these, but I think my favorite yogurt is called "The Greek Gods" greek yogurt.  Man! The traditional and pomegranate are delish!

i found the 'back to nature' products which are at target and stop and shop to be good snacks - they have oatmeal cookies, honey graham sticks and more with no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors or preservatives, no trans fats etc. hopefully you can find it around if you look - sometimes in organic food section at the supermarket
but its always individually based when it comes to diet - so test them at a safe time and see if you do okay with them

For breakfast, I eat something small, like some toast, a bagel, a piece of fruit (banana, apple, canned pineapple are the 3 I eat most often) or a breakfast bar of some sort (I like Clif and Luna bars a lot). I sometimes have a mid-morning snack of some fruit. For lunch at work, a sandwich, burrito or leftovers from the night before's dinner is what I usually eat. Yogurt, cottage cheese and string cheese are good snacks. All are somewhat filling. I also snack on pistachios and cashews, but some people have problems with nuts.

It's hard for me to eat smaller meals, too, especially for dinner. I think a lot of it for me comes down to will power -- recognizing that you're full, and stopping eating even if you still have food on your plate. I also try to avoid even buying junk food very often, because I know if it's in my apartment it's going to be hard for me to stop at just two scoops of ice cream (instead, I'll eat the whole pint of Ben & Jerry's in one day!) or a handful of Cheetos. If I get the craving for something sweet and crunchy, I sometimes munch on cereal for a snack.

I have recently just started 3 small meals and snacks during the day. for breakfast i usually have a bowl of cereal w/ soy milk, or a bagel. Lunch is soup/1/2 sandwich, or salad w/ turkey or chicken, dinner is usually normal size for me. My snacks range from fruit, to granola bars, cottage cheese, or chees chunks, crackers, ect.

Im flaring right now, so i can't report if it has helped me yet. Hope u see a difference!
