If you have a candida overgrowth - and many folks with IBD do - ingesting alot of peanut butter could make the problem worse. That's been my experience. Other nut butters - almond, cashew - could be options. You can also get sunflower seed butter at health food stores. Nut and seed butters would be easy to digest for anyone who has problems with whole nuts and seeds.
Hmm, interesting. I LOVE peanut butter. Especially Reese's cups and the like. But I do find myself running straight to the bathroom after eating it. Even when I go to Chick-Fil-A, where they cook all their chicken in peanut oil (tastes AMAZING), most of the time it goes straight through me.
I can't resist peanut butter though, even if it does hurt me sometimes. It's just too tasty ^_^
