Hi..it's possible you have something else going on aside for flaring. I'd say a flare...but it's easy for the doc send in your stool samples and get it checked.
To help some of it you could use a fibre supplement to help bulk up the stool to help lessen some of your trips to the bathroom.
With an inflamed colon, it will produce more mucus and quickly expel anything that's in the lower colon in an effort to protect it.
How are you eating? Small meals with protein will help maintain your energy.
What supplements are you taking?
Your poor butt....you should still consider to use some rectal meds, however...even suppositories will help with some of the urgency.
Are you able to take any probiotics?

My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
