Lambkins, thanks for letting us know you're in England. As a start:

Mesalazine = Mesalamine (generic name). Brand names are Asacol, Pentasa and Lialda. Asacol is the most commonly used 5-ASA for UC in the US. Pentasa is used more often for Crohn's disease, but sometimes for UC. Lialda is newly approved by our Food and Drug Administration and is a time-release preparation that can be taken once a day rather than two or three times.

Predfoam = Cortifoam

We use US brand names quite a bit around here, just ask us if you don't know what we're talking about.

And welcome again to HealingWell. We're also happy you found us.

Welcome aboard lambkins,

I'm living in the states, but I'm originally from Woolwich...in the USA there are more than 700,000 with UC and the numbers are growing every year...so we are not alone. This is a great site with wonderful people, we may not agree on everything but we all feel for each other....I call this my home away from home and I love all the people here.

There's also a chat room which is open once a week for UC people, I can't remember what day of the week but it's always a good chat.
