Gma had her cscope today - at the crack of dawn no less!  But good news, her bleeding isn't from cancer nor an IBD.  She has diverticulosis (which I already knew about), but she also has some major hemmies in addition to the walls of her colon are in a fragile state from the radiation treatments she received for her bladder cancer. So the doc thinks that one of them 3 is causing her to bleed. She also had an endo done and we found out that she has gastritis and a hiatus hernia.  So now, she has to be on Prilosec, Anusol supps and Benefiber.  So that's the skinny on Gma  :-)

That's good news (if you can call having divirticulosis good that is) MIL has divirticulosis as well, about 4 yrs ago she had a perforation in her bowels and the hospital kept sending her home saying she just had the flu...she almost died from feces poisoning, but they managed to catch it in enough time (finally) and did surgery, she had to wear a bag for about 1.5 yrs before she got the reversal done...divirticulosis can be a pretty scary thing too and their diets can be very limiting as well.

Glad you GMA is okay!!!

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

Overall, that's good news! Almost everyone over 40 has some degree of diverticulosis, and it rarely causes trouble. Sounds like she's in pretty good shape for a woman who's been through all the other things she's been through.
Moderate to severe left-sided UC (21 cm) diagnosed 2001.
Asacol, Rowasa, Pentasa, Prednisone, Entocort, Azathioprine
Avascular necrosis in both shoulders is my "forever" gift from steroid therapy.
Colazal,  Remicade, Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri. In remission since April, 2006.

A relief that it's not cancer...unfortunate she's still suffering from the after-effects of the radiation. I hope the meds will help to get her back on track to feeling better.

Thanks for the update Sherry!
