To all of you out there who have offered all the many ideas and things that have helped you, and been so embarrassingly honest about this disease - THANK YOU!!!!!!

Eight weeks ago, my doctor did blood work and found that I was anemic - which is nothing new to me. I recognized the signs, so when he told me my numbers, I wasn't surprised, nor was I all that alarmed because my numbers have been waaaaaaaaaay worse than they were on that day.

My first time on this Web site, I read about the Haldi drink. I ordered a case and began drinking it right away. I saw some improvement, but was by no means "normal." But it had been so long since I'd been normal, that I truthfully forgot what that would be, so I took the improvement and was happy with it. For about three weeks, I was drinking one Haldi a day and at my doctor's appointment last week, my iron and hemoglobin numbers are coming up - and he was pleased. (He's never pleased with me on my visits to him and has pretty much made me feel like I have not been doing something right, when I have been following his instructions EXACTLY!) I told him about the drink, and he didn't seem to want to hear much about it.

Finding this Web site and finding out that so many of you out there are experiencing the same frustrations I am - even while on medication helped me to feel better about my efforts. As I said before, I started the Haldi, but I decided to try 2 Haldi a day - one in the morning and one and night, and within one week, I had a "normal" BM. It seems funny to get excited about that, but I know that you all understand - IT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! For about a week now, I'd say I'm in remission. First time since my diagnosis.

For the first time, I can go to the mall, or out for dinner and not have to worry about pain and having to find a bathroom while I'm out. I am so thankful for all that you all put out there.

Comedydork - you responded to something else I posted and you said that you were putting tumeric in V8 juice and sprinkling it on food to avoid the cost of the Haldi. Do you think that using the spice on it's own is just as good as drinking the drink? How much tumeric are you using? Anybody else out there using tumeric?

Congrats!

I *think* that Haldi works for some is because of the turmeric, which is supposed to be anti-inflammatory. Does the Haldi bottle say how much turmeric is in it? If it doesn't, maybe you could call the company and ask, and try to put the equivalent amount in other things. I'm Indian and turmeric is used in a lot of Indian foods, so that's how I get most of it. You could always do trial and error, and see what works!

Congradulations!!!!  I take tumeric supplements, not sure if they work though because I have had a minor flare since starting last year.

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006
Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.
Started Meds:  Apr 9 08 500mg 5ASA (salofalk) to ease flare, tapering, stopped.
Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).
 Added: tumeric and probiotics.
