I know for sure I can't handle gluten, dairy, soy, nuts, oats, sugar or corn.
So I'm left with veggies, fruits, fish, chicken, steak and some other things.
I've been on it 5 days, trust me it's hard if you ask me. You prepare and cook all your meals which is very time consuming. You're limited to honey only as a sweetner. I'm on day 5 still I have blood, but better formed stools. Still I have diarreah.

I'm going golfing on Friday and I'm not currently on any meds. Taking asacol and canasa make me tired and I can't really say what else b/c I dont know if it's the meds or the UC. I'm thinking hard about getting back on ASACOL (again) but should I start now being the golf outing is in 5 days or wait until the golf outing is over? Does the asacol take two weeks to really start working and showing side effects. What have you noticed? I just want to be able to golf with confidence.  What would you do?
I had the Rocephin shot and 2 weeks of Omnicef, this helped with my bloating and digestion. That was 4/15/07
Had Cipro and Predison for 10 & 5 days, 7/3/07
Colonoscopy & Endoscopy 7/27, Left sided colitis and near cecum (mild)
Had a shot of steriods for my ear inflammation 8/31
Stopped Colozal 10/1/07 was on it for 7 weeks, side effects
On Standard Process supplements, trying a new protocal from a
natural path as of 9/10/07
Started Vitamin E enemas 3/27/08 by Sheldon

Take it if it helps you. Take whatever helps to keep your symptoms under control. I personally never saw any effect of the asacol. I know that prednisone helps me so I can keep my symptoms under control with very little prednisone and eating somewhat healthy. I think I would go into remision with prednisone and the SCD diet, but it's tough. Kudos to you for incorporating it into your UC regimen.
