Greetings:
Newbie here, delurking.
Just ordered Probiotics VSL#3 based on what I have read on this forum.
Started a flare 10 days ago after 2 months of tapering off a 60mg/day dosage rate of Prednisone. During the last week of taking Pred at 5mg/day, a flare started, so now back on 60mg/day. Hate the Pred, hence the order of VSL#3.
I'm currently at work so time is limited now, but I will make a formal introduction of myself to this helpful group at a later time.

Beth, 32 ~ small flare - hoping caused by aspirin - hydrocortisone e's
Major Flare Sept/Oct 07
UC dx'd 03/00 (Proctosigmoiditis); Pancolitis since 09/07
Azathioprine 200mg 1xday nightly; Calcium and Vit D 500mg 3xday, Multi Vit, Folic Acid 400mg 2xday, Prilosec, Probiotics.
Minimal Change Disease (Kidney Disorder) dx'd 09/07 - partial remission since 03/08
Prednisone 5mg 1xday (tapered from 60 = ), Simvastatin 20mg 1xday, Diovan 160mg 2xday. Enalapril 20mg 1xday, Fosomax 70mg 1xweek. MCD may be from hypersensitivty to 5ASA drugs.  Do you have edema? If so, check your blood protien level!

wow 60 is alot, do you suffer severe side effects? i know alot of people on here do but I'm fairly lucky with it.
Diagnosed in spring 2005 at age 28
Currently on 12 asacol pills a day + Entocort
40 MG Pred cycle stating 3/26
Remicade

Great screen name, 60 mg of pred is alot? Can you sleep on it? Taking any other meds?

diagnosed with uc 27 years ago.  Enojoyed 20 year remission with just minor blips here and there (approximately 16 of those years without any meds)
 
In a flare for 2 very long years which Asacol didn't help at all.  Finally in remission again since Jan 2008, can't believe it..............
 
currently on Sulfasalazine 2 tabs 3x day. Folic acid, mesalamine enema 2 x a week. Omega 3, Probiotics, multi vitamin, calcium supplement, Biotin....
