Just curious, it is probably way more than I could afford to pay each infusion..........But if only a few hundred, I could do it, doubtful though!

UC dx'd 03/00 (Proctosigmoiditis); Pancolitis since 09/07
Azathioprine 200mg 1xday nightly; Calcium and Vit D 500mg 3xday, Multi Vit, Folic Acid 400mg 2xday, Prilosec, Probiotics.
Minimal Change Disease (Kidney Disorder) dx'd 09/07 - partial remission since 03/08
Prednisone 5mg 1xday (tapered from 60 = ), Simvastatin 20mg 1xday, Diovan 160mg 2xday. Enalapril 20mg 1xday, Fosomax 70mg 1xweek. MCD may be from hypersensitivty to 5ASA drugs.  Do you have edema? If so, check your blood protien level!

My pharmacist told me it was $1700.  OUCH!!!

Diagnosed Pancolitis 5/05.

Hospitalized 2/08 Severe Flare

Remicade - every 6 weeks
Imuran - 150 mg per day
Asacol - 9 pills per day

It can really depend on your insurance. I was approved for both Remicade and Humira but my doctor wanted me to try Remicade first since there have been more studies that show it effective for UC. I was kind of bummed though because Humira was only going to be $18 each time and you can do it at home. I still pay $18 for the Remicade but I also have to pay the hospital for the infusion - about $75 each time. The actual drug goes through our drug insurance and then the infusion goes through our medical.

It is $1700 for 2 shots from what I know. I pay $40 for 2 thanks to my insurance.
Diagnosed with Left-sided UC in 1995 at age 15, Prednisone, Rowasa & Hydrocort. Enemas, Proctofoam, Sulfasalazine, Asacol, Probiotics, Fish Oil, Aloe Juice, Canasa, Enotcort, Colazol, Anamantle, Remicade, etc... had 1 inch deep rectal ulcer 2004, put on Remicade, August 2007:Increased Remicade dosage-700mg every 6 weeks,diagnosed w/ Psoriatic Arthritis & Fibromyalgia Current meds: Clorazepate, Lomotil,  Tylenol pm, Lyrica started 1/17/08,  Humira started 4/4/08

I think it is around $800/pen (shot). Initially I took 4, then 2 two weeks later. Now on normal pattern 1 shot/pen every other week. First month cost is north of $6400, then $1600 ish.

Any questions now why the ins co wants us on pred etc if at all possible. Makes the cost of asacol look like buying
m&m's.
