Is that you on the NY Times article on surgery?!!?! I swear it is- the timing is right, I know you hike a lot & are active.... if so, you rock! And you're famous, to boot! Way to go! :-)

dx proctitis in 1987
dx UC in 1991, was stable until 1998

1998 started prednisone, asacol, pentasa, nortriptylene, ativan, 6MP, rowasa enemas and suppositories, hydrocortisone enemas, tried the SCD diet, being a vegetarian, omega 3s, flax, pranic healing, yoga, acupuncture, probiotics

2000 lost all my B-12 stores and became anemic

2001 opted for j-pouch surgery- now living life med-free

That is SO cool, Sue! How did they get in touch with you? I mean, how did they pick you out of the thousands who've had surgery? Awesome.... I gotta hand it to you, keeping it to yourself all this time- I would've posted about it the minute i knew it was going to happen. Did you think people would figure out that it was you? It's a good article also- all those NY Times pieces were very well-written & truthful, I thought.

I was the one who wrote them, and so I had long followed Sue's posts.

I am SO SO glad you think they are good and useful. Approval from fellow UC-ers is very important to me.

Pancolitis dx 3/07
9 Colazal a day (was on 12 Asacol/day, but suddenly got sick from it)
150mg Imuran/day (steroid dependent, reached this dose 9/07)
Rowasa in PM (is working wonders for me thus far)
Various vitamins, bit of fish oil, a probiotic.
Getting married October, 2008!!!!

Moderate to severe left-sided UC (21 cm) diagnosed 2001.
Asacol, Rowasa, Pentasa, Prednisone, Entocort, Azathioprine
Avascular necrosis in both shoulders is my "forever" gift from steroid therapy.
Colazal,  Remicade, Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri. In remission since April, 2006.
