My 16 year old son was diagnosed with UC a little over 2 years ago. He does extremely well on his meds(lialda) and has had no flairs or complications - Thank the Lord. But he does seem to tire easily and I don't know if it's the drug or the UC. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would say it's hard to say.

Fatigue is probably one of the symptoms I'm most frustrated by. Could be uc, could be side effect of the meds, could be just doing too much or being 16 years old. Has your son has his blood tested for possible problems?

Just about everytime he goes to the doc (every 3-4 months) they draw blood. I also realize that he's a teenager and that sometimes goes with the territory. I'm probably worrying too much!  He's really doing great-I should stop worrying so much! Thanks for the reply!

I am certainly not a teenager but fatigue has been my biggest complaint over the past six months. I don't ever really feel rested and I need "down" time so my body can rest. I am sure with a teenager this fatigue has a more dramatic impact on him. They need more rest than the average person anyway. As long as he is resting I am sure he's fine - just make sure the docs keep tabs on that blood work.

Fatigue is one of the characteristics of UC. Even though I'm in full remission, my energy level still isn't quite up to what used to be normal for me.
