Has anyone heard of Behcet's disease and how it can have the symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns?

Here is another link.

Dx:  UC Proctitis 2006
Meds:  None so far. Garlic works to ease flares. My GI laughed when I told him and said it was just coincidence.
Started Meds:  Apr 9 08 500mg 5ASA (salofalk) to ease flare, tapering, stopped.
Diet:  Regular fresh garlic, Biobest yogurt daily, Omega 3 supplements, very limited junk food, carbs and processed food, low fat diet.  Lots of fresh fruit and veggies (limited potatoes).
 Added: tumeric and probiotics.

I have heard of it and I wonder if I possibly have that myself. I had a doctor in the hospital mention it. So far I haven't found any doctor who would even give me the time of day to explore such a condition.

I may consider going to the Mayo clinic and maybe they would have the decency to investigate.

I wonder if there is any difference in treatment between that disease and someone with UC?

Doubt anyone here can answer your questions, doors, because we aren't familiar with the disease. I know it isnt considered an inflammatory bowel disease, so treatment would be totally different, I assume. It's a little off-topic on this UC board.

I hope by now if you have behcet's you have been to many doctors to stay ontop of it. I am a 31 yr old mother of 3 living with Behcet's. I believe that the birth of my youngest was the onset. I started having many problems and no answers from my doctor. I started getting what looked like blisters in my mouth and on my vagina. Believe me the worst pain ever. They can last from 1 week to a month. I was in so much pain i could not walk i stopped drinking due o it makes you pee and that will put you in tears. This disease has no cure. Doctors will try and treat the smyptoms. It is a auto immune disease which means your body attacks it's self. It  can cause pretty much everything to go wrong in your body. Trust me i live with it everyday. If there are any ? Or you just need to feel not so alone with this disease please feel free to e-mail me at

Yes, lew. Bahcet's symptomatology can mimic both crohns and uc. But it is something you really need to discuss with a specialist in the disease field, because we just do not have enough info about it.
