Welcome to this site. I think you will love it. It has been very helpful to me. I am not familiar with coloxal but I'm sure someone will post a reply who is. Good luck. Bellski

Hello there.

Most of the time if something is typed IN ALL CAPS I don't even bother reading. It's much harder to follow, and people use it when they yell on the keyboard, lol.

Phillykid, some members here have had problems with some of the generic formulations. Strange as it sounds, the "inactive" ingredients can have a bad effect on some people. Most people do fine on them. I'd suggest trying it, as it likely will be fine. I've been taking the generic from Watson Labs for quite a while now and had no problems.

Bleeding with stools could be caused by hemorrhoids, especially if it's just a smear on the outside of the stool or on the toilet paper.

Diet is highly individualized; if yours doesn't bother you, then there's no need to fix it.

Rather than starting a new thread for each post, click on the reply box at the top of the thread. That will keep the conversation all together and be less confusing for people.

We're happy to have you here at HealingWell, but will you please do me a favor? Typing in all caps on a message board is considered "yelling," and isn't good internet etiquette. It also makes it much harder for people to read your posts, and many will just move on to the next one. If you would turn off the caps lock on your keyboard, I think we'll all be happier. Thank you, and welcome to HealingWell.

I have taken the liberty of moving the post from your second thread here and deleting the other thread so it will make more sense.

Welcome to the forum. I was on Colozal for about a year and it did not keep my UC under control.  Sounds like they maybe should try something different, there are so many different 5 ASA drugs, believe me I tried them all. Eventually none of them keep me in remission or help even taking the predinisone at the same time.  I am now taking Imuran which they just recently changed me to which is different than the 5 asa drugs. Hopefullly there is one that will help you.  I have had UC for 21 years and still have all my colon thank god....the 5 asa drugs are good, they just need to fins the one that tailors to your needs and helps you. There is pentasa, sulfasalazin, asacol the list goes on, you may want to talk to your doc and tell him how things are going.  Hope you find something that helps and you get better soon.

Moderate to severe left sided colitis diagnosed in 1989, UC at times had been throughout the whole entire colon. Have been on ever 5 ASA drug known to man, none of which kept me in remission. Currently taking Imuran 75 mg working up to 100mg eventually if it works. Been on Prednisone since January tapering off, currently on 10mg a day. zanax(anxiety) thanks to all the steroids seraquil 100mg, protonix for GERD and probotics and fish oil
