Good question.

Normal bm's should be well formed in my opinion. Meds, diet and infection can alter bms to make them dark or light in color or change it's consistancy. I also think that if stool smells really (and I mean really) bad, it may indicate a problem with bacteria, parasites or maybe infection...but that's just my opinion.

I think like an inch in diameter and somewhat smooth and firm. Probably about once a day depending on how much you eat. Right now I'd rather have that than winning the lottery, but what are the odds.lol

according to my husband a normal BM is satisfaction. . . .he's a loon.

personally I think a semi firm to firm consistency about the diameter of your colon that passes with ease is normal, you shouldn't have to strain. I have been told that you "should" have to empty the bowels about 3 times a day if your system functions normally however I think 1-2 a day is more common at least that's what my family tells me.

A nice firm bm with no pain. Comes out in a long segment. Not super stinky - but almost "earthy" smelling.

Normal peeps go anywhere from 3x a day to once every three days.

My family is odd...

On father's day during dessert we all just talked about our poop. Color, size, frequency... it was hilarious. I did not bring it up and it was not UC related. My husband and family just started talking about poop.

Between the five of us we could not come to a "normal" look or amount.

Between 3 a day and ever other day was the consensus.

I find anything that doesn't hurt to be pretty good. And any number under 4. But that's just me.

For me its I get the feeling that I have to go, I go and its well formed (harder than soft serve) and I feel satisfied. Once my sister in law told me that if you have to push at all to pass a bm you're constipated. I'm not going to lie...I welcome a push because that means its not d! :)
