So someone told me tonight that her dad has colon disease and was told about 10 years ago to drink aloe. He started drinking aloe and six months later a colonoscopy revealed a totally healthy colon. He has been in remission since. He said he gets the large containers of it at Wal-Mart and drinks a glass every morning followed by a glass of water. He said it really has no taste, it's just a matter of getting past the fact that it's aloe. Anyone else heard of this? I'm willing to give it a try and post my experience.

If your doctor says it's ok then try it. Years ago I heard of drinking aloe. It was part of the Herbal Life weight loss program. Good luck and let us know how it works if you try it.

I tried it back not too long after I was diagnosed, about '93-'94. I had heard pretty much the same thing about aloe, but it didn't work for me. You never know - it might work for you.

Some of our members have tried this, but have used Aloe Vera Gel. The straight Aloe Vera can cause diarrhea, so you might want to find some of the threads about aloe vera gel. Go above the blue control bar to Google Custom Search, and search for Aloe Vera Gel. You'll get a lot of good info about both the gel and regular aloe vera drink. Good luck!

Remicade - will have my 22nd infusion on June 12.

Aloe is great!  I drink it all the time!  It helps to soothe and rebuild tissue within the lining of your intestines.  Actually, it's good for all your tissue in skin etc.  There are so many different kinds.  The purest ones tend to be a bit pungent (Lily of the Desert - aloe vera juice or gel) but you can mix them with juice or ginger ale.  They are starting to make others that are mixed with fruit so it just tastes like a fruit juice.  As well, recently I found one that looks and tastes just like water (George's Aloe Vera).  So there are so many varieties.  Usually, you want to make sure that buy one that comes from 'whole leaf' as it is the most nutritional portion of the plant from what I understand.  Well good luck!
