I am currently taking Asacol as well as rowasa enemas. The meds are doing their job of keeping flares away. I notice much more control with the enemas. I have left-sided UC.
Because my copays are kind of high, I was thinking of asking my dr about colazal. There are generic versions of colazal on the market right now, so copays will be cheap.
Lialda is not available in generic form, so copays will be the same as what I am paying with Asacol. But maybe Lialda will be better than Asacol in controlling things.
Question - based on experience, would you switch from Asacol to Colazal or Lialda? I am not sure what side effects, if any, would be associated with Colazal. I assume Lialda will have side effects much the same as Asacol.
I am thinking about this all because I think Asacol is ok, but I am not sure it is the best for left-sided UC. I think Colazal and Lialda will be better for left-sided UC. I will still be taking the enemas.
