Hi,

I am taking 20mg. of prednisone daily(in the morning).  So far things have been going well for me.  Out of nowhere yesterday just after dinner I became very ill.  I started going very light headed and then proceeded to vomit.  And so far this morning it has taken me 2 hours to get out of bed as I can't stay upright for more then a few minutes.
Has anyone had side effects like this?

Have you called your doctor? How long have you been on the pred? What other meds are you on?

I think it is unusual to be allergic to prednisone. If I were you I would call your doctor. And of course it's a Sunday.......If you call the pharmacist, they are often very helpful too. Hope you feel better very soon, Bellski

Call your doc. I've never had that with Prednisone. It IS very hard on the stomach so always take it with a meal.

Ive been on 40mg for 4 weeks and im feeling the side effects hard this time. i get light headed and hot flashes. I get really nauseated but i dont vomit. I felt like i could though sometimes. I just started taking prevacid before i take the pred. I think its helping me not feel so nauseas.

Id always eat before taking it.

Maybe you could be allergic to the coating around the pill ? thats not unheard of.

Try breaking up the dose throughout the day.  When I'm on Prednisone, I can't take it once a day like my doctor prescribed.  If I'm on 40 mg, I take 10 mg - 4x a day.  If I'm on 20 mg, I take 5 mg - 4x a day.  My body tolerates it much better because it stays consistently in my body.  Before I tried taking it this way, I would get really sick a few hours before I was due to take my dose so breaking it up made that stop.
