If any of you are hearing that one word from your doctor "Surgery" and you have tons of questions, you might want to listen to the HealthTalk on June 23 regarding the topic: June 23 Webcast on: Colitis and Surgery: Why You Shouldn't Wait Too Long

That decision to pick the "optional" surgery for some is really really difficult, it took me three years, but this information may be helpful?!  We also just posted some new videos on my uc to jpouch blog that are about UC, jpouch and related stuff:  http://ucstory.wordpress.com

Hi EdieKristin,

If you get a chance maybe you could post your high regard for the webcast on the UCstory blog, we would like for others to know it is good so they might be more willing to listen?!

It was an amazing webcast. I have never listened to or participated in a webcast and this was a real eye opener. They really touch on everything Colitis related. They answer lots of questions right down to how u might feel the day after surgery.. and the days afterwards.. etc etc etc. Its truly a good listen. :O) Thanks got the info Mark.. your blog is great, I love the picture diary and the link to this webcast was also GREAT. :O) Thank you soooo much.

No problem, thanks for the message! :) I'm at work and they have myspace blocked here (of course, they're no fun. Hahah) but I will check it when I get home!

Just finished this and webcast was really informative, I wish I had this before I made my decision. seemed pretty right on about how my process went making that decision.

I finally listened to the webcast this weekend. It was really informative and helpful. I had my parents listen as well, and now my dad's bugging me to email the surgeon that was on to ask her opinion on my situation--I'm not sure if I'll be doing that...After listening to it, I want to have a laparoscopic surgery even more (I'm mostly worried about fertility issues) but I can only find one near me who does it and I'm not sure if he's experienced.

Thanks for posting it, Mark!

Sorry it didn't work for you, I can't explain why not, but here is the link to Health Talk:

If you can't access that then just try going to the http://www2.healthtalk.com/go/colitis  Health Talk website, and look on the left side for the webcast replay for : Colitis and Surgery: Why You Shouldn’t Wait Too Long

You should listen, it is really good!  Also, thanks for the links to the photos for the ostomates, that is so GREAT!
