Hello! I am new to this so please bare with me. I have a two year old daughter and about six weeks after her birth I tried to start running again and had severe rectal pain like a cramp. My doctor told me this was normal after a vaginal delivery. A year later and I was still having this problem but every time I ran I had the urge to have a BM.This April I went to the doctor and she said that I had a hemmorroid but no big deal. I suspected this due to itching and buring and the occasional blood on the toliet paper. Two weeks ago I started to have blood in my stool after I ran with bloody mucus. I went to the docor and am seeing a GI this Friday. The doctor thinks is could be colitis but I fear something worse. I have had diarrea and loose stools all weekend and a stiff neck and back for two weeks. I have had bouts of major gas over the last six months and have a bm every to days or so. Has anyone experienced bloody mucus after exercise or the urge to have a BM while running I have stopped running and would like to start again when I feel a bit better.  Any adive would be greatly appreciated. :)

Really the only practical thing you can do is go and see a Gastro specialist and organise a colonoscopy. Its the only way to find out if you do have colitis.

The nastiest thing about UC is that if you DO have it, the longer you let it go, the more it will spread and the worse it will be for you. The sooner you catch it, the easier it usually is to treat.

Yes, I agree with Severin. Set up an appointment with a GI and get a colonoscopy. I know it can be scary, but the longer you let it go, the worse it is going to be. Take care and let us know how everything goes
