so the pred is helping me, YAY!

I have been at 40mg for almost a week now and will follow up w/GI next week to let him know my status.

When would you guys start to taper down the pred, at how many bm's per day?  I don't want to do it too early, but will also see what GI says, just curious.  I wouldn't want to do it when I am still bleeding but am bleeding much, much less, thank goodnes.  Those clumps of blood, really, really, scare the crap out of me (pun not intended but fitting).  Also, my bm's are still really skinny and short a couple of bigger ones and sometimes just the sediment type (right analogy?).

My last pred taper, I was just on it for so long (b/c of kidneys) by the time I tapered I was having a couple skinny bm's a day.

TIA!

It's probably best to ask your GI this question. If you don't want to wait until your appt. call the doctor's office and leave a message. As I recall with my pred use the doctor always gave me specific tapering instructions but that was only after I reached certain recovery milestones.

Best to ask your doc. My rule of thumb - wait until everything is stable and where you want it to be - meaning no blood!

When symptoms decrease and you start feeling better. This should last for a while before decreasing PrED.oF course you should not do anything without seeking advice from your doctor.

thanks for all the advice, yes I will def. talk to GI before tapering I was just curious as to others experiences and was maybe even thinking of staying on it a week longer than whatever he says, just to give myself peace of mind if this taper does not work and I get stuck going to remi.
