Mesalazine suppositories

Hi can anyone help have been changed from predfoam enemas to mesalazine supps two nocte started them last night on instructions it says to lay on left side for at least 1hr and then stay laying down for a further 3 hrs so they work properley is it really important to stay laying down for that long advice needed
  
  Diagnosed 22.5.08 with Lft sided U/L
  Meds Predfoam 20mg 2x day
  Mesalazine 400mg 2x day

I'm taking the same suppositories, but I've only been told to lay down for 30 minutes.  My dosage is less than yours, so that may be why you have to lay down longer but three hours sounds like an eternity.  Have you double-checked that with your doctor?  I can't imagine anyone being expected to do that.

Ulcerative Proctitis - Diagnosed by colonoscopy January '08
Rowasa (Mesalamine) 60 ML 2X daily
Cortenama (Hydrocortisone) 100 ML 1X daily
Tried Canasa suppositories, Cortifoam, Prednisone, Colazal, Disgestive Advantage (Colitis), Fish Oil, Vitamins

I use Canasa once before bedtime.  Instructions were to keep in at least one hour - all night would be best.  I just use it before bedtime and 1/2 hour seems ok.  Elaine

New UC (with rectal bleeding and diarrhea)- 2 months ago, colonoscopy showed mild
UC rectal and little above.
Using Canasa 1000mg. once a day
Probiotic Primal Defense
Prilosec for GERD
Inderol for hypertension
Xanax

Hi he says at least an hour longer is better but i can't stay on my side that long 1/2 hour does sound better i'm sure that they would still work as i do stay in bed after i have dono them thanks for your replys

Lambkins - guess it helps that I sleep on my side - either side and usually stay on one side the first 1/2 hour.  Elaine
