As you can see recently diagnosed with UC - rectal and very low left side.  Been a long time since I had left-side low pain (like spasms).  Today woke up with them about every 10 minutes or so.  BM did not help.
I have been using Canasa for over a month - probiotics primal defense.  Everything is looking better - less blood, more formed stool, less cramping, lower back pain, etc.  Now this left low pain back again.
I know when I see doc next week he plans on putting me on pills like Asacol or ? - any recommendations and also any other help for this pain!  Thanks.

I had lower back and left pain and moist heat really helped me. There's just something comforting about warmth. I had the ac blasting and the warm pad - it felt wonderful. Good luck to you.

Definitely get back on the Asacol with the Canasa supps.

Ask for a 'script of dicyclomine 10mg. It's an antispasmodic and helps tremendously.

Some of the symptoms could be gas? could be spasming from rectal inflammation.....the Asacol should help that too.

Have you changed your diet...maybe something you're having on a daily basis is contributing to the discomfort....are you taking any artificial sweeteners? Sometimes that can be a culprit.

Thanks everyone!  Glad I found this forum!

I believe the new probiotic may be causing some gas - hoping that subsides as it it working and helping.  I just gave up the Splenda which never did bother me.  Otherwise nothing new.  Elaine

Oh yes...could be the probiotic. You could take them before bedtime rather than duing the day.
