 Hi everyone,

I've been in remission for two solid months.  cool However, this past week, I've had soreness in my bottom and some extra bm's.  I thought it was something I ate that didn't agree (a nutty crunchy salty pretzel, chip mix thingie).

Anyway, I've had lots more gas the past few days and now I have a "sore spot" in between my anus and vagina.  It is also bleeding ever so lightly, when "tapped" with TP on the tip of my fingers.

Is this a fistula?  An abcess?  Taking Canasa seems like the wrong thing in the wrong place.  It really hurts after going number one or number two.  Please help!

Could be an abscess, but you will have to have it checked out by a colorectal surgeon... If you're lucky it won't fistulize, but if it is an abscess it will have to be lanced. Also, the sooner you get it checked out the better. Good luck!

Have you taken a look down there? yep, squat over a mirror so that you know exactly what's going on. It could be a fissure that's at the 12:00 position...could also give you pain and bleeding when tapped with toilet paper.

As well, you'll be abe to visualise what the doc is talking about when/if you go to get it checked out.

Thanks Quincy--I believe you are right. The fissures are what I never think of and I believe also that is why I had to start the Canasa to begin with.  duh!  Hope all is well with you.  I've been away from the boards for awhile--seems like so many new folks!  Glad to hear from you!

Hi...use the canasa nightly for a while and apply an appropriate butt cream (I like Proctocedyl) to help heal them. If you don't have a 'script for that, over the counter such as Anusol or even hydrocortisone will help. Zinc oxide might even work....

The point is to use it often.

You should, however, still get it checked out.

I have a fissure I break open very often...too thorough wiping I guess. Add that to an external hemmie...I can definitely tell when I'm lax at using the external meds. That's where I'm lazy unfortunately.

To insert the canasa...you can wet it with water....makes it a bit easier.

I'm doing well...

Yes, lots of new members lately...

Keep us updated as to how you're doing.

Have a good summer....

Thanks, Quincy. Guess I understand now why the GI doc kept asking, " are you cracked open down there?" "If so, use something like diaper rash ointment." I need to get the Canasa refilled. The pharmacy is probably closed tomorrow on the 4th--just my luck.

How does a fissure really heal? (yeah, you're going to say with CAnasa and creams--have to treat it,right?) I got to wondering about what you said about wiping too well. I think I do that, too. Also, when I am constipated or get diahrea for some reason or another, that may do it, too.

I have mouth sores today, too, so my body might be up to something.
