Hi,

I've started taking mesacol - a mesalasimine product (sun pharma). All the information with it is in Vietnamese. I've done some research and know a fair bit about it but I can't find out what it's release mechanism is. It's a red tablet - 400g. Is it exactly the same as asacol?

Also can you help me with maintenance dosage(I think 800g 3times daily) for very mild flare and maintenance dosage?

Thanks for reading

Asacol is a ph-sensitive acrylic shell, no?

400 mg x 2 TID is a maintenance dose.

A quick search shows that mesacol is a general (generic) form of mesalamine (probably for foreign markets).  No info. on mechanism or dosage, but I'd guess they are similar.

Mesacol seems to be a generic form of Mesalamine, the same drug that is in Asacol, so the dosage should be the same. Sounds as if you're on an appropriate drug and an appropriate dosage. Information on the internet is sparse, as it seems to be used primarily in Southease Asia and India.

they look exactly the same as Asacol, I'd assume the coating would be the same.

how many are you taking daily....6 in total?

I would strongly suggest you also use rectal meds.

Great thanks - I hadn't seen that page - same product but different manufacturer.

I'd like to go on enemas, worked well for me before but I'm pretty certain they're not available here.
I'm keeping an eye out though.

Taking 6 in total, yes
