Just wanted to let you know that my boyfriend and I watched a reunion concert by the Guess Who last night...and they were playing in Winnipeg, their hometown...and yours! :-) The concert was awesome; not sure when it was done, but my boyfriend is a music nut, so it's always fun to watch these "reunion" concerts. Also makes me feel old! Ha. Anyway, just wanted you to know that I thought about you when they were talking about how much they loved their hometown of Winnipeg.

Hi Carol....you're so sweet!!! Yep, they were pretty famous when I was a teen. The Bachmans went to my school and church. Tim (Bachman Turner Overdrive)hung in the same group as I for a while and I had a terrible crush on him for a short time..lol!

Winnipeg, albeit viewed as a hick town, produces lots of talent to which helps put it on the map.

Thanks for thinking of me!

Oh my gosh, wait until I tell my boyfriend that you went to school and church with the Bachman's....he'll freak. I'll have to let him read this post from you...he'll never believe it! He really has met some wonderful people because he is such a music lover. Kind of funny because he puts on the concerts -- he watches and I sing and dance to them; I keep telling him I should have been a backup dancer for these bands. :-) It's always a blast to watch these guys in their reunion tours because they enjoy playing so much together and really get into the music.

As they were playing the concert, a big thunderstorm came on, and they had to stop playing, but they came back out and played without the electic guitars for awhile....and they still sounded awesome! Said they couldn't let their hometown down by stopping the concert, so everyone stood there in the rain dancing and singing. Just goes to show how much Winnipeg loves them too! Laughing, ha ha ha, laughing, ha,ha,ha,ha. Can't stop that song from going through my head! No Time is also a good one. So many...and good memories!

Wow Carol....I think you missed your calling!! Laughing wasn't one I liked as much as some others..but it was a catchy tune nonetheless, probably because one could actually hear the words clearly ;-)

I made a mistake in stating Tim ... it was Robbie (crush thingie and who hung in the same group/parties for a while..he was a grade ahead). Tim always tried to bum money from anyone in school..lol! They were really nice and never stuck-up.

Interesting tidbit...Burton Cummings was a bit upset that nothing was named after him in his home town (at least that's the story), that always comes to mind when I drive past the Burton Cummings Community Centre..haha.

I wish I could say I really knew them....but it was only casual. The music scene/bands in Winnipeg during that time was big..mid '60s and early '70s music was awesome!

Thanks for sharing..happy dancing!
