i am just in the middle of experiencing what my doc has suggested is uc. i had this last year and put it down to stress 'cos of work being pants! the months leading up to this week i have had extreme tiredness, like i was going out partying every night!! also a pain in my left side behined my ribs that felt like someone was sticking a pin into my side. in the last 8 weeks i have been getting joint pain too, mainly in my ankle and both wrists, previously in my knees, shoulders and elbows. i have the stomach pains  that have stopped me doing what i was doing at that particular time. i had three bouts of bloody, mucousy stools. eating just isnt top of the pops right now but it feels like i have had a 3 course meal. i wish!!!  i have had extremely bad lower back pain for a year now but have learned to live with all my symptoms, however i have had enough....

does anyone thing that going to the hospital is just a formality or does anyone think my problems are not uc.

Welcome to HealingWell, nickynacky. I love the screen name, but it's long to type. I hope you'll excuse the abbreviation.

Your symptoms certainly sound like you may have UC. It's very important, though, to be properly diagnosed - with a colonoscopy and biopsies - because there are other conditions that can mimic the symptoms of UC. Have you been referred to a gastroenterologist yet? What diagnostic evaluations have been done?

While the minutes slowly tick by waiting to get results, you might consider checking out the UC resources thread on this page. It has a lot of helpful information about UC and its management.
