nothing like making it all about money, but for many it's a great motivator.  I don't think you can pay people enough for them to start caring.

It would be great if anyone can think of a way to use waste to make money....although in some countries they're using it to "water" the foods we're eating.

I've never had to pay for use of a toilet yet....but maybe eventually.

At least they're not limiting us to 3 squares of toilet paper per sit.

quincy - I got a shock when I went to Thailand, cuz that is EXACTLY what it was like. You had to pay to go to the toilet, they were rarely clean and you only got 5 squares of toilet paper, unless u paid for more!

Got me a dose of culture I did haha.

Ah, that's horrible (esp. for us) about paying for toilets! I hope it never catches on...

Severin...I can only imagine since I'm not a traveller based on "no interest". I had heard from some friends who mentioned the limit of so many squares of toilet paper that actually was sold to them while lined up to use the toilet. Ugh. That's what I meant in my posting.

Very good article - interesting and well written. Thanks for posting. When I read the part about India looking into the possibility of using human waste as fertilizer for food it grossed me out, but then I got to thinking, we already use cow poop (manure) for fertilizer (which also kind of grosses me out...lol) so why does the idea of using human poo freak me out so much.

Raw sewage is different than treated sewage....it's the raw stuff that's the problem...like using water from rivers or water areas that hold raw sewage, be it human or animal.

My thoughts on it anyway.
