I had a colonoscopy yesterday and I'm extra crampy and sore today. I've had at least 20 of these in my life time but don't recall it being this uncomfortable the next day. Is it because maybe he went really far into my colon this time around? I do have some active colitis in my lower intestine but the soarness is not in that area that I can tell.
I haven't eaten any harsh foods today to cause any issues.
Anyone else experience the pain a lot the next day?
Thanks for an input in advance. :-)

I always have some crampy pains the day after, from the biopsies. It usually clears after a day or two.

I had some pains after my flex sig because they took a ton of biopsies. The doctor said I would possibly have some pain and blood. I would guess you's start feeling better in a day or two. If not, you could call the doctor and see what he thinks. I hop[e you feel better real soon. Bellski

I always get cramps and pains. I find its worse depending on the number of biopsies they take. I try to be really gentle with my colon over the next few days. Only drink water and eat soft, low residue foods. I find it clears up in a day or two. Have also learnt to take the few days after a colonscopy off from work.

I've only had the one colonoscopy so far, but yeah, I was sore the day after - I felt like I could actually pinpoint where they'd taken the biopsies. The really weird thing was that I had pains in my collarbone area for two or three days afterwards that hurt enough to make it difficult to sleep - I have no idea if anyone else has had this, and I know they didn't put the camera up quite that far, but it definitely hadn't hurt there before the scope!

I have suffered from UC for almost 20 years now. I just had my annual colonocopy yesterday and I am extremely sore with bleeding the day after. I feel as if I've been punched in the abdomen. My doctor takes many (up to 30) that attributes to the soreness. Taking Advil helps, although you should not take that with bleeding. I can barely stand up straight. The past several colonscopies have been like this. I have active disease and he said lower part of my colon is 100% ulcerated. Hang in does get better after a couple of days and it's important to be proactive to check for cancer. I get results back next week. So far so good over the years even with sever UC.

I had my 9th or 10th colonoscopy a few weeks ago and ended up in the hospital after - never had that happen before in my 19 years with UC.  I even once went out the same night I had my test!  I talked to my GI a few days ago and he said I had 2 polyps removed so that could have caused extra bleeding (I had ALOT and I'm not in a flare) and extra pain.
He also said that sometimes the air they put in can get trapped up in the small intestine and cause alot of pain.  Said they will need to make sure next time that they try REALLY hard to get all the air out at the end of the test. I'm fairly certain the doc that did my test didn't try at all to get any air out.  They claimed they use carbon dioxide (or something like that? I can't remember now!) rather than what they used to use as apparently it gets absorbed into the body on its own eventually. I have a feeling this means the doc didn't even try to get any air out.  They got an earful from me on that!  It's amazing how much pain trapped air can cause, it actually almost made me throw up a few times.
UC - diagnosed 1994, in remission for 10 years, currently trying to get over a flare

I had the same problem after my last scope. The trapped air was so painful I was dry heaving in the car on the way home.

Thank you God777. My family and the doctor and staff, think I'm being a big baby. They really should be more honest. I'm very neurotic so this is scaring me because I imagine the worst. I have left side tenderness and it feels just like the diverticulitis and IBS that I went in to have checked on! Also pain in the a##. I'm sort of sorry I went as this is giving me lots of anxiety. I have to babysit grandchildren. Am 65 and this is difficult enough without adding pain to my day. I wonder how you are feeling now and how long this lasted?
