It is most likely a bacterial imbalance caused by the Flagyl going in and killing masses of your gut flora. A half decent probiotic capsule will help quite a bit where that is concerned.

It may well be the Flagyl. I remember not long after starting a course of Metronidazole (same stuff), I thought the devil himself had taken up residence up there and died. It went very soon after stopping the meds, so don't worry - it's most likely not permanent!

Male 30 Years Old.

Diagnosed Pancolitis June 2007

Currently 10mg Prednisolone, 9 tablets Asacol, 50mg Imuran (started Dec 07), 100mg Mercaptopurine (following allergic reaction to Imuran)

The bad smell when flaring is the blood in your GI track beginning to decompose.
