Hi, haven't posted in a long time....went to the dr today... wants to switch me to Lialda, six pills once a day, and give me a colonoscopy next week . Anyone try that one yet? Just wondering. thanks. -Andrew

UC diagnosis 2002 pan colitis
meds: Colazal 4 750mg, Prednisone 30mg one day, 10mgs the next, and Buspar 60mg/day

I am on 4 Lialda in the morning. I feel they have been key to getting me in remission. I have been doing great for about three weeks now.
  • 25 years old
  • Ulcerative Colitis since Sept. 2004
    • 1st flare Sept-Nov 2004
    • 2nd flare Aug. 2007-present
  • Currently taking 1000mg Dipentum, 75mg 6MP, and weaning off Entocort at 6mg, 4 Lialda, Digestive Advantage Chrons/Colitis, and Women's One a Day

Is there much difference between Lialda and Asacol?
33 yr old male. UC for 14 years. 5mg pred (tapering off), 12 pills Asacol per day, Dicyclomine (for cramps), 0.5 - 1mg Atavan per day (anxiety) when needed, Fish oil pills, Culturelle probiotics. Recent Endonasal brain surgery to remove non-cancerous hormone producing tumor on pituitary gland (And I am still more afraid of my UC!!)  "I poop in the woods because I can"

Not sure mbx5...I think there is, but they work similarly.
Age: 30
Sex: Yes please!
Location: Missouri
Diagnosed with UC in 1997.
Medications: 100 mg Azathioprine a day, Blech 40mg Prednisone
Supplements: calcium, and multivitamin
No. of colonoscopies: 5
Last scope: 6/7/08-everything looked ok.

I think they are the same med - mesalamines - except Lialda is time released which allows you to be able to take less.

Have you noticed any side effects of this medicine?
