Made it through the second day at 5 mg! I have been on 40 mg since three weeks before my vacation 2 weeks ago, so about two months of that crap. I tried a couple of weeks ago to drop to 10 mg from 40 and felt like I was dying for two days so I went back to 20 mg until this past weekend, then dropped to 10 mg on friday and 5 last coupld days. Hopefully I can drop off the 5 this weekend. In past I really haven't had that much of a problem with quick tapers, but I woke up with that wonderful HA this morning.

What do you guys use to help with that taper HA?

I recommend a slow taper as do my Nephrologist and GI.

30mg and above tapered by 10mg a week.

30mg and under, taper by 5mg a week until I get to 5mg. Then I will be on 5 for a while, lucky me! I think then I will go to 5mg every other day for a few weeks.
Beth, 32 ~ hoping to taper pred successfully, wish me luck!

Very slow taper. You shouldn't taper if you aren't feeling better though.Dropping tenmgs like you did is only asking for trouble.
Good luck

I have to taper by 2.5mg every two weeks.  I've been on it for a year-and-a-half and every time I taper to the lower doses I flare again, so I'm on a very slow taper.

Ulcerative Pancolitis (dx'd 6/2002)
Pentasa (4gm/day)
Prednisone 12.5mg/day
Aranesp injection every week for anemia
6-MP (discontinued as it lowers my white count)
Immodium-AD (occasionally)
various meds for other conditions

When I get that horrible head ache during a taper, I have to take Lortab and go to bed until it gets under control. Even with a slow taper it usually happens 3-4 days after I change the dose. I am currently tapering Entocort. Went to one pill this week. YEY!

First day without any. Last couple days noticed I have sweated alot more than I typically do. Most normal BM's since my last remission. Hope it continues.
